The Second Clinical Medical School

The Second Clinical Medical School is also known as the Shenzhen People’s Hospital. It was founded in 1946 and renamed the Shenzhen People’s Hospital in 1979, when the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was set up.  In 1996 it joined with Jinan University and became Jinan’s “Second Clinical Medical School.” As the development of economic special zone has progressed, the Shenzhen People’s Hospital has grown into Shenzhen’s biggest comprehensive hospital. It offers integrated Medical treatment, instruction and research programs. The hospital is both functional and highly advanced, offering a strong talent pool, and powerful technical facilities.  The Hospital-School’s total floor area stands at 108,200sqm with a total constructed area of 110,000sqm. The number of hospital bed stands at 1,090. In 2007 it provided a huge volume of healthcare to the local population with “discharged patients” amounting to 41,100 persons and outpatients of 2.31 million people.
Honors and Achievements
• The College was the first “ Third-Level First-grade Hospital” in Shenzhen
• Minimally Invasive Surgical Technology has been applied to various specialized branches of clinical surgery and giving the School the leading position in the country.  Its Orthopedics Department is regarded by Guangdong Province as a specialty of special distinction.
